Edward R. Detiege: American Legion Post 250 Chaplain

Edward R. Detiege is the chaplain of the American Legion Post 250 in Alabama. He is with the Honor Guard. “We honor the dead while serving the living.” The Honor guard offers memorial services for deceased veterans. They look after the poor and the sick in the community as well.

Mr. Detiege spent a total of 22 and a half years in the Air Force, from 1955-1977. He started out as an aircraft electrician, then went on to become an autopilot instrument technician and an Air Force instructor for active and reserve personnel. He spent a total of 13 years overseas during his career, in places such as Japan, the Netherlands, Guam, and Spain.
