Ed and Virginia Hodge: Surviving During and After World War II, Part 2

Part 2

Ed Hodge, a native of Tuscumbia, Alabama, is a World War II Army Veteran. Ed was married to his wife Virginia while in Basic Training before his departure. They would not be able to truly be together, however, until Ed returned from the war. Ed spent his time serving in the Pacific Theater, where he endured many dangerous encounters. His experiences included rescuing captured American soldiers, nearly being killed by a Kamikaze, and taking part in the capture of Tojo at the war's end.

The end of the war was not the end of Ed's, nor Virginia's, hardships, though. Recovering from the traumatic aftereffects of war was a long and difficult process for both of them. Listen to Ed and Virginia as they share with us their story.
