In 1947, Paul Everett joined the military, in the midst of the Korean War. He remained in service until 1956, when he returned to Mobile, Alabama.
Around 1970, Paul and other veterans decided to start a local American Legion post in Mobile. They worked diligently and the Post received its official charter in 1971. As Mr. Everett himself put it, "We started off with nothing, and we just worked it up."
